ArtLab Vanderbilt
The ArtLab program emerged from a desire to understand better the intersection between art, sciences, and communication. ArtLab has become an epicenter for design, visual science communication, and science outreach through innovative and engaging exhibits that showcase top biomedical researchers’ latest findings through art.
During my undergraduate studies, I sought the mentorship of Pharmacology instructor and artist Dr. Kendra Oliver and collaborated with her to create ArtLab, an art-science fusion program for which there was no precedent we knew of at Vanderbilt. ArtLab enlists participants from all corners of the university to engage, create, and discover. ArtLab fulfills a very important niche. From attending lectures on the creative and scientific processes to making artwork exploring important science topics, I celebrate the chance to show my artwork to an engaged audience and build connections across various disciplines. ArtLab has connected me to the most amazing people and platform for the creative exchange of ideas across disciplines, and it continues to grow today.
